Introduction
Koodo Mobile is one of the newest players in the Canadian market, making its debut in early 2008. Koodo does not have their own towers and equipment in Canada, but rather is acting as a reseller of Telus' CDMA services. Therefore there will be absolutely NO difference in coverage and service quality, but there ARE differences in both costs and phone choices.
At present Koodo is offering services in all Canadian provinces, but not in the territories yet, although you can use your Koodo phone there.
Koodo works a little differently than other plans, so I will first explain the steps before going into the plans:
- Select a phone from their lineup (you may not use an existing CDMA phone with another provider, e.g., Telus, Bell).
- You use your 'Koodo Tab' to pay for some or all of your phone. You can initially take up to $150 off any phone price with your tab.
- Every month you pay your bill, Koodo credits your tab 10% of your total bill (not late payments or taxes). So if you bill is $30/month then you would receive a $3 credit on your tab.
- Once you pay off your tab then the credits are still applied to your tab account. You may then save them up and buy a new phone.
- If you decide to leave there is no cancellation penalty since there is no contract HOWEVER you are still required to pay off any outstanding balance on your tab.
- Note that there is a one-time set-up fee of $35 if you activate over the phone, but if you activate your phone online or in-store, that fee is waived.

You may select a plan combo or make up your own. All plans include Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Conference Calling and Per-Second Billing. Here's three combos offered on their website:
