Scavenger hunts, combined with compasses and possibly GPS units are a lot of fun and allow individuals to work together towards a common goal. The hunt may be geared to any age and skill level and can occur in urban settings, a portion of a building complex, or a park. Team building events give your co-workers, students, or friends to forget about the regular work week and to learn something new while creating a competitive environment full of an assortment of challenges! These challenges include problem solving, time management, quick decision making, and prioritization of the tasks to get to the final goal. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? | ![]() First Place Winners |

This page features some photos of a teambuilding exercise held at the University of Victoria in January 2008. There was a total of 12 teams and the event ran about four hours plus an extra 90 minutes or so for team reports and a debrief. Average age of this group was in their mid-to-late twenties. The teambuilding exercise used the campus of the University, various buildings and outdoor venues, and a few of the business establishments on campus. Participants were not allowed to use their own laptops, but could use any internet resources on campus, plus any mode of transportation, to get between sites where information needed to be gathered. In addition, a help line was available for those teams stuck that needed a hint (for a score penalty). Teams found that they needed to make quick decisions to try and get to the final goal in the time allotted and they learned to work as a team to get to the final goal. | ||

![]() | A nice afternoon of Geocaching is also a fun way for all age groups within a family! Both existing and event-only Geocaches are placed in a safe, outdoor venue and then teams are formed and allowed a couple of hours to find the Geocaches and help is only a phone call away. Once you learn about the sport of Geocaching, it makes a great family activity, regardless of where in the world your travels may take you.
